1967 ਤੋਂ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਧਰਮ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੁਏਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਸ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਵਿਦਵਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ ’ਤੇ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਪਛਾਣ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਬਾਨੀ ਸੰਤ-ਸਕਾਰਲ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਸੂਝ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। 20 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1967 ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਪਰਸਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦਾ ਨੀਂਹ-ਪੱਥਰ ਰਖਿਆ। ਸਿਖੀ ਸਪਿਰਟ ਨੂੰ ਮਘਦਾ ਰਖਣ ਲਈ ਡੇਰਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੱਸਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਤਪੱਸਵੀ ਭੂਮੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਊਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਰੋਸਾਏ ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਹਰਦਿੱਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੱਸਾ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਨੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਸੁਚਾਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਡੇਰਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੱਸਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਪੰਥ ਰਤਨ ਡਾ. ਸਰਾਦਰ ਇੰਦਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸਰਦਾਰ ਇੰਦਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪੰਥਕ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਲ ਪੱਥਰ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ। ਸਰਦਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਪਛਾਣ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਸਿਖ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਉਸਾਰੂ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਉਲੀਕੇ। ਅੱਜ ਕਾਲਜ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ-ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਣਾ ਖੱਟ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

The visionary leadership and deep spiritual insight of Sant-Sakar Gurmukh Singh Ji, the founder of Gurmat College, Patiala, played a pivotal role in shaping its academic approach. On October 20, 1967, he laid the foundation stone of the College under the patronage of the Panj Pyare.

The sacred land of Dera Baba Jassa Singh has continually served as a source of inspiration and energy for the institution, fostering the spirit of Sikhism. The legacy of revered saints—Sant Baba Hardit Singh, Sant Baba Jassa Singh, Sant Baba Nand Singh, and Sant Baba Gurmukh Singh—continues to guide the college, reflecting the divine blessings of Akal Purakh Waheguru.

To ensure the efficient management of Gurmat College, Patiala, the Dera Baba Jassa Singh Management Committee soon entrusted its leadership to Panth Ratan Dr. Sardar Inderjit Singh Ji. Renowned globally for his dedicated service to the Sikh community, Sardar Inderjit Singh Ji made significant contributions to education, economics, and social welfare. Under his leadership, the college established a distinguished identity, excelling in both academics and cultural preservation.

In addition to academic excellence, he introduced several initiatives to safeguard and promote Sikh heritage. Today, graduates of Gurmat College, Patiala, are making their mark in educational and religious institutions across India and around the world.
